Master'sSpecial Education - Low Incidence

The bachelor's to master's program in special education is specifically designed to prepare qualified students in the Teacher Apprentice Program邃｢ for graduate-level work through a coordinated accelerated program leading to both a Bachelor of Arts in Education (BAED) in early childhood unified / elementary education apprentice and a Master of Education (MEd) in special education - low incidence.

Most students work full time, completing their degree in the evening through our fully online format. The program is excellent preparation for doctorate-level study in education.

Admission to the program

To be considered for admission to the accelerated bachelor's to master's in special education, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Minimum 2.750 GPA
A current Kansas initial teaching certificate / license (or eligible for a certificate / license)
Full admission to the WSU Graduate School
Completion of the first three semesters in the Teacher Apprentice Program邃｢ course sequence with a C or higher

Cousin with autism inspires student to write book

WSU student Amy Lightfoot has authored a children's book titled 窶廴y Cousin Lili.窶�

The book is the real-life story about Lightfoot and how her cousin Lilian, who has autism spectrum disorder, inspired her to understand and love people with disabilities.

Curriculum

Upon admission to the accelerated program, you'll be granted tentative admission to the graduate program in special education and allowed to enroll in courses for graduate credit prior to completing undergraduate degree requirements.

You're encouraged to create a tentative plan of study in consultation with your undergraduate coordinator and/or graduate coordinator.
